Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.
The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.
Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
